Janssen Dental offers ozone treatments in Green Bay, Wisconsin
The word “ozone” conjures up images for many people of the upper atmosphere and its role in protecting us from dangerous ultraviolet light. However, a much more grounded application for this supercharged oxygen molecule applies to dental ozone treatments.
Dr. Craig Janssen recommends ozone treatments for their ability to eliminate infection and cavity-causing bacteria. According to the Journal of Natural Science, Biology and Medicine, ozone is 1.5 times stronger than chloride when used as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa.
Dr. Craig has found that ozone treatments are an effective, minimally invasive approach to oral care that come with the side benefit of avoiding antibiotics. Ozone treatments also fit with his biological dentistry philosophy toward overall health, since it also has the capacity to stimulate your immune system.
What are ozone treatments used for?
We offer ozone treatments in three different versions depending on the application:
- Ozone water for dental cleanings (standard and deep)
- Ozone gas to encourage healing
- Ozone oil for topical healing
Dr. Craig uses ozone treatments to lessen tooth sensitivity and to minimize discomfort during more invasive dental procedures such as extractions. It neutralizes the acidity in your mouth and creates an environment unsuitable for many bacteria.
The additional oxygen atom that is the differentiating factor in ozone encourages healing and disinfects tissue. While ozone treatments are appropriate for most patients, it is important to disclose any health issues you have to ensure it is the best option for you.
