We applaud all our floss users

We applaud all our floss users out there, but we have found not everyone enjoys flossing as much as us! Here are some reasons why you may want to change your flossing habits:
- Floss removes food trapped between the teeth and removes bacteria that forms before it hardens into plaque. Toothbrushes alone cannot effectively clean between the spaces. Any food or plaque that remains in the spaces can lead to decay.
- If you use toothpaste with fluoride in it, the ADA suggests flossing your teeth to remove debris before brushing. This way the fluoride can penetrate between the teeth.
- Remember the best flossing technique is to wrap floss in a ‘C’ shape around your tooth and move along the curves of the tooth. Straight up and down motions are not as effective in removing all plaque and debris.
- To make flossing easier, try a Waterpik, Access Flosser or Proxy brushes. All items are available at Janssen Dental Clinic.
