Dr. Craig Janssen provides compassionate sedation dentistry in Green Bay, WI for patients of all ages in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Many patients have experienced dental anxiety as a result of past traumatic or painful experiences, discomfort due to the smells and sounds of the dental office, or embarrassment about their level of dental health.
If you find that you avoid going to the dentist due to dental anxiety, Dr. Janssen and our team understand what you are going through and are ready to help. Whether you need a routine dental cleaning or more complicated dental treatment, Dr. Janssen offers minimal, moderate, and deep sedation dentistry options to help make your visit a positive one.
Dr. Janssen provides oral sedation dentistry to help calm dental anxiety, and no needles are required. Taken about an hour before the appointment, the prescribed pill helps patients feel calm and relaxed, aided by one of our warm blankets provided for the procedure.
Intravenous (IV) Conscious Sedation
If dental anxiety is moderate to severe, patients may need to take advantage of our IV sedation option. Before the procedure begins, the sedation medication is administered intravenously. The patient's vital signs are carefully monitored while Dr. Janssen completes the dental procedure. The patient is conscious and able to follow directions but retains no memory of the dental procedure itself.
Dr. Janssen offers nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas," which is the most frequently used method of sedation dentistry to calm dental anxiety. The odorless, colorless gas is administered through a nosepiece, resulting in complete relaxation for the patient. Once the procedure is complete, the patient is able to return to normal and drive home.
