Frequently Asked Questions

Please notify our office at least 72 hours in advance if you are unable to keep your appointment. This courtesy makes it possible to give your appointment time to another patient who desires to see the doctor. If you do not notify our office at least 72 hours in advance, we reserve the right to charge you for a missed appointment.
Dental insurance has limitations that we, as your dental provider, do not control. However, we will gladly file your dental insurance as a courtesy to you! Ultimately, you are responsible for all fees incurred regardless of coverage.
We welcome an open discussion of services and fees prior to treatment in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
Oral sedation is made available by Janssen Dental to assist in minimizing anxiety or fear that may be associated with going to the dentist. The intent of oral sedatives is to relax you, yet still enable you to communicate with the dentist while treatment is being performed.

With oral conscious sedation you will wake up refreshed with little or no memory of what was accomplished. Because you are completely comfortable, Dr. Janssen can do years of dental treatments usually in one or two visits.

No fear of going to the dentist? No anxiety of having treatment done? No time to have necessary work completed? Sedation dentistry is not only for those who have fear of the dentist but also for people with very busy schedules. Sedation dentistry allows people to get the dental care they need easily and quickly without causing chaos in your life.

Imagine being able to smile with confidence and live without oral pain; no wonder so many patients say “Thank you Dr. Janssen. Sedation dentistry has changed my life.
Have your choice! In office or at home whitening!

With both options you have the ability to restore you smile to its natural luster.

Our in office whitening technique has been proven to whiten teeth as much as 10 shades. Prior to whitening we do recommend the use of a desensitizing toothpaste. We also include an Ozone treatment to make sure you have the most comfortable appointment possible.

The at home whitening system allows you to “touch up” your smile when needed. We make a set of trays specifically for your mouth that holds our whitening system. Just like with the in office whitening we recommend the use of a desensitizing toothpaste.

Dr. Janssen has been using composite fillings for over 19 years instead of amalgam or “silver fillings”. Otherwise known as “white fillings” or “tooth-colored fillings” are made of a resin material that provides good durability and can be used on either front or back teeth. Composite fillings are also more cosmetically desirable for patients as Dr. Janssen can match the patients tooth color to the composite color. Another benefit of composite fillings is that they are bonded to the tooth, which strengthen the tooth’s structure unlike with amalgam fillings, where the dentist needs to remove healthy tooth structure to place the fillings.
Periodontal (gum) diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. The word periodontal literally means “around the tooth.” Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth.

Laser Periodontal Therapy is a laser-based approach to gum disease using an Nd:YAG free running pulsed laser requiring specific knowledge and skills drawn from the whole dentistry. To patients this means: less pain, less bleeding, less swelling, less tissue removed, less down time, and less recovery time which is decidedly less costly to you and your employer. The reasons we use Laser Periodontal Therapy are to: remove only the diseased tissue without removing any of the healthy tissue, maintain the height of the tissue around teeth, minimize pain and discomfort to the patient, get a closure of the periodontal pocket wound and allow healing to take place. Controlling periodontal disease makes it possible to save and restore otherwise hopeless involved teeth.
Dental sealants are a thin coating that is applied to the biting surface of back teeth or molars. This tooth-colored protectant acts as a barrier between the tooth and the foods and fluids that can cause decay. It protects the grooves where cavities tend to begin. Early prevention, with the use of dental sealants, will be less expensive than restorative work later on. Sealants save time, money and are one of the best steps to take toward a healthy mouth.
Bonding is one of the most inexpensive ways to achieve a great smile by correcting chipped, uneven teeth, gaps or stained teeth. A tooth-colored material is applied onto the tooth to cover up the small cracks or gaps. The material is hardened, then smoothed and polished.
A bridge is an artificial replacement for a lost tooth or teeth. Replacing lost teeth is important in preventing healthy teeth from shifting out of position, causing further tooth loss.

Crowns are porcelain or metal alloys that strengthen and protect your teeth. They are covers that are placed over weakened or decayed teeth. Crowns are very durable and enhance the beauty of your smile.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that is inserted below the gum to anchor an artificial tooth. Dental Implants are a more secure and confident solution to uncomfortable or loose dentures.
TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint and Muscle Disorder) is a misalignment of the upper and lower jaws, which has symptoms of jaw pain, headaches, earaches or difficult opening and closing your mouth. It can be the result of stress, chronic jaw clenching and teeth grinding. Dental treatment involving the use of splints, bite plates or functional appliances can be used to reposition the lower jaw.
